System Requirements

Microsoft Windows 98 with the Y2K Update 2 and Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2 or later, Windows 98 SE, Windows Me, Microsoft NT® 4 SP5 (or greater) and IE 4.01 SP2 or later, Windows 2000, Windows XP Home Edition, or Windows XP Professional

*  40 megabytes (MB) of hard disk space.

*  32 MB of RAM.

*  An Intel Pentium-class or compatible processor rated at 100 MHz or higher.

*  CD-ROM drive 

To take full advantage of RnD TaxSoft Internet Update feature, you should have an Internet connection 

 

RnD TaxSoft 1.1 General Installation Notes

To install RnD TaxSoft:

  1. If your computer runs Windows NT Workstation v4.0, Windows 2000 Professional, or Windows XP, log on to your system as a user with administrative rights.

  2. Follow the Installation wizard as it guides you through the set-up process.

 

How to use the Project Manager

Creating a Project:

1. In the Project window, click the Add button on the upper left-hand corner.

2. In the Project sheet, enter the project name, your name, and an estimate completion date. Press OK.

 

At this point press OK to save the project "Sample Project Number 1" in the projects database

You should see the following in the Projects window:

Repeat this process to create another project.

 

Creating a Task

1. Select the project for which you want to create a task and press the green Down Arrow icon

2. Click the Add button on the upper left-hand corner

3. In the Task sheet, enter the Task name.

 

4. In the Financial sheet, enter the Billing Rate and the Budget Hours allotted for this task

5. In the Technical sheet, enter a description of the task and the milestone(s) achieved; or you may choose from the supplied library by pressing the Library button

    Tip: After you finish typing, you may click the Add to Library button to save this description to your local library so it can be used again at a later time

6. Repeat steps 1 through 5 to create more tasks

 

Creating a Subtask

You may add another level to your project and the task(s) under it by creating a Subtask.

1. Select the Task for which you wish to create a subtask.

2. Click the Add button on the upper left-hand corner.

3. Enter a name for the subtask.

 

 

Delegating a Task to a Team Member

1. In the project window, double-click the Task you want to assign to another user

2. Go to the Personnel sheet and press the Reassign button. Select the person you want to re-assign the task to and press OK

3. Repeat steps 1 and 2 to assign a task to another user.

    Tip: If you are running RnD TaxSoft Enterprise version, you may send the task across the network to the person you assigned it to.

 

Creating  a Timesheet

Before you create a Time Sheet, you must create a Project and a Task under it. You can only enter a Time Sheet for a Task that is already created.

1. Select the Task for which you wish to create a Time Sheet

2. Drag-and-drop the Task onto the Time Sheet window.

3. Enter a description for the Time Sheet in the Description text box

4. Enter the Hours Worked by setting the Start and End times.

 

5. In the Financial sheet, enter the Hourly and the Discount Rates

6. In the Technical sheet, click the Work Done button and enter a description for the work Done.

7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 to create another Time Sheets

 

Making an Appointment

You can only create an appointment for a Task that has already been created. To make an appointment follow these steps:

1. In the Calendar click the date when you want the appointment to be created

2. In the Project window, select the Task, then drag-and-drop it onto the Appointment window

3. Type a reminder for yourself and enter the time of the meeting. Press OK.
